Czech Republic Vision Trip

Journey into the heart of Central Europe to engage one of the most secular nations in the world. Partner with missionaries and Czech church leaders as they labor to plant and strengthen local, reproducing churches in a post-Christian context shaped by both deep spiritual heritage and widespread gospel apathy. This nine-day vision trip offers a unique opportunity to discern a long-term calling to pioneer church planting, discipleship, and gospel witness in a country that has largely forgotten its Christian roots.

9 Days – Central Europe

The Czech Republic Vision Trip is a nine-day journey designed for those prayerfully considering long-term missions (3–5 years or more). This “taste and see” trip allows you to experience firsthand the challenges and opportunities of gospel work in one of the most secular nations in the world. You’ll join missionaries on the ground, participate in outreach, learn from Czech church leaders, and explore the nation’s rich history of missions and theological reform.

the bigger vision

The Czech Republic, though deeply rooted in Christian history, is now among the most secular countries in Europe. Evangelicals make up less than 1% of the population, and most Czechs are indifferent — not hostile, but apathetic — to the gospel. Local churches are small (often consisting of fewer than 30 people and only a few that are larger than 60-80 people), lack clear missional vision, and are struggling to grow.

To Every Tribe’s vision is to help establish healthy, indigenous-led, self-sustaining, and reproducing churches in central Czech cities. Missionaries are currently laboring to build from the ground up in a city with only a handful of evangelical believers. The work involves evangelism, discipleship, equipping, and walking alongside local partners to plant a missional church that can become a platform for multiplication.

At the same time, this field connects deeply to the heritage of missions history: the Moravian movement launched from Czech soil, and the theology of Jan Hus continues to shape Protestant faith worldwide. Our goal is to stand in that stream of faithfulness, trusting God for a new gospel movement in a country that has largely forgotten its Christian roots.

Prayerful Discernment

Spend time with missionaries currently serving, learning about their joys and struggles, and consider whether God may be calling you to long-term work in Europe.

The Need in Czech Republic

Extremely secular context: Most Czech people are indifferent to the gospel, seeing little relevance to their daily lives. This is in part due to the historical suppression of religion in the area, and is contemporarily in part due to a cultural identity as being a godless society.

Fragile churches: Existing congregations are often small, needing improved structure, and are not reproducing. Many of the believers are first generation Christians, and therefore have not been a witness to what a healthy church active in discipleship looks like.

Language barriers: Czech is one of the hardest European languages; long-term missionaries must labor to learn it to reach people effectively.

A need for pioneers: Missionaries here must embrace a “marathon mentality,” patient endurance, and humble teamwork. Often, the ministry here grows at a shockingly slow rate, however, the fruit of embracing the process that demands commitment, patience, and dependence upon the team is a beautiful thing.

We Are Praying For

We are asking God to raise up missionary units who will:

  • Join in pioneer church planting in highly secular urban centers.
  • Learn the language and culture to engage meaningfully with Czech people.
  • Help establish structure and leadership for healthy, reproducing churches
  • Evangelize and disciple in a context where apathy is the primary barrier to the gospel.
  • Persevere with humility and unity, bringing stability to a diverse team on the ground.

why this trip matters

This vision trip is not a sightseeing tour—it is an invitation to see and experience the spiritual reality of a nation with Christian roots but little gospel witness today. By engaging in outreach, learning from local leaders, and visiting historical mission sites, you will gain a clear sense of both the need and the potential for long-term missions in the Czech Republic. You’ll return with a deeper perspective on what it means to serve cross-culturally in post-Christian Europe, and whether God may be calling you to join the work.
