Remote Pioneer Church Planting Missionary

Ecuador

Location:

Southeastern Ecuador

Department:

Sending & Planting

Ideal Profile:

Family unit or Single man

For those whose ambition it is to preach the gospel where Christ has not been named, this position offers a pioneer church planting role among the unreached in a remote jungle county of 30 small towns and communities. A To Every Tribe family has labored to establish a church in the largest county seat town, but there is a need for additional laborers to carry the gospel of Christ into the surrounding remote and hard-to-reach communities.

As a Remote Pioneer Church Planting Missionary, you will first attain high proficiency in Spanish and then integrate fully into the life and ministry of the existing church. In collaboration with the local believers, you will develop and implement a strategy for planting churches among the unreached Mestizo, Shuar, and Saraguro towns and communities throughout the county. You will be responsible for carrying out this strategy by working through the 8 Phases of Pioneer Church Planting, with the goal of seeing healthy, biblical churches established across the region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Language & Culture Acquisition: Commit to full-time language study (1-2 years) and cultural immersion to achieve mastery in Spanish and deepen cultural understanding.
  • Community Engagement: Establish a godly presence in both the county seat town as well as the remote unreached communities, seeking ways to engage and serve through meaningful interactions that build connections and open doors for gospel-centered conversations.
  • Great Commission Discipleship: Exhort the local church in the county seat town toward faithful obedience of Christ’s command to make disciples of all nations, including those within our county.
  • Strategic Planning: Work alongside the local church to develop a plan for establishing healthy, biblical churches among the 30 unreached towns and communities of our county, involving local believers in both the planning and execution of the strategy.
  • Implement the 8 Phases: Build trust, learn the culture, and preach the gospel. Nurture new believers through discipleship in the context of the local church, helping them to discover and use their spiritual gifts to serve one another in the body.
  • Evangelistic Outreach: Help oversee evangelistic children’s Bible clubs, Sunday School, and English language classes as ministries of the church, always pointing all people to Christ.
  • Short-Term Trips: Support visiting mission teams and volunteers, helping them adapt to the local context and ensuring their contributions align with the needs of the local church.
  • Partnership: Communicate regularly with donors and supporting churches, providing updates on ministry activities and sharing prayer needs to strengthen partnerships.

Essential Qualifications

  • Meet the biblical qualifications for elders/deacons listed in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1.
  • Proven teaching, preaching, and evangelism experience.
  • Completion of missionary training.
  • Ability to thrive in all areas of life while living in a remote location.
  • Committed to live within the community of service to fully engage in the life of the local church and society.
  • Completed college education is very useful for obtaining a visa.
  • Commissioned by a local church as a missionary, and in agreement with To Every Tribe’s mission and statement of faith.
  • Able to work well in a team-based environment.

Salary

This position is full-time and fully support-based. The worker is required to raise a team of financial and prayer partners to fund all salary, taxes, and ministry expenses. A fundraising coach is provided upon acceptance.
