Cross-Cultural Ministry Internship
Czech Republic

This summer internship immerses you in Central Europe, serving alongside To Every Tribe missionaries and Czech church leaders in one of the most secular nations in the world. Though the Czech Republic has deep Christian roots, the gospel is largely viewed as irrelevant today. Evangelical believers make up less than 1% of the population, and local churches are often small, fragile, and non-reproducing.

A central purpose of this internship is for the intern to develop practical experience in cross-cultural ministry by living life alongside a missionary family and serving them in tangible, everyday ways — including providing childcare that enables long-term missionaries to focus on language learning, discipleship, and church-planting work. Rather than operating independently, the intern steps into the rhythms of missionary life, learning how ministry and daily responsibilities are deeply intertwined.

The primary focus of this internship is to serve local missionaries on the field through the act of childcare. By caring for the children of missionary families, the intern plays a vital role in freeing long-term workers to invest in language learning, discipleship, outreach, and church-planting efforts that require sustained focus and energy. Through this relational and service-oriented role, the intern will gain exposure to both active ministry activities and the ordinary, behind-the-scenes tasks that sustain long-term missionary presence. This internship is designed to cultivate humility, faithfulness, and cultural awareness while offering a realistic picture of life and ministry in a post-Christian European context.

Ministry Context

The Czech Republic, though deeply rooted in Christian history, is now among the most secular countries in Europe. Evangelicals make up less than 1% of the population, and most Czechs are indifferent — not hostile, but apathetic — to the gospel. Local churches are small (often consisting of fewer than 30 people and only a few that are larger than 60–80 people), lack clear missional vision, and are struggling to grow.

To Every Tribe’s vision is to help establish healthy, indigenous-led, self-sustaining, and reproducing churches in central Czech cities. Missionaries are currently laboring to build from the ground up in a city with only a handful of evangelical believers. The work involves evangelism, discipleship, equipping, and walking alongside local partners to plant a missional church that can become a platform for multiplication.
