A Missionary of Discipleship and Mobilization in Southern Mexico focuses on strengthening and edifying local platform churches, discipling believers, and equipping congregations to actively reach their communities with the gospel.
There is a powerful reality in cross-cultural church planting: establishing a healthy church is only the beginning. For a church to truly impact its surrounding region and reach the unreached, it must be deeply grounded, spiritually mature, and actively mobilized for the Great Commission.
At To Every Tribe, we are committed to seeing the worship of Jesus extended to every tribe. In Southern Mexico, a key part of this strategy involves strengthening existing platform churches so they can become sending hubs for the gospel.
We are currently seeking a Missionary of Discipleship and Mobilization to join our Sending & Planting team in Oaxaca, Mexico. Working under the guidance of our Field Director, this role is designed for a ministry leader who has a passion for building up the local body and preparing them for active outreach and leadership.
Role Overview: Discipleship and Mobilization Strategy in Southern Mexico
This is a deeply relational and incarnational calling. You will not be operating on the fringes; you will be investing your life directly into a local congregation within the El Calvario network.
As a Missionary of Discipleship and Mobilization, your primary objective is to build spiritual maturity within the body. You will serve faithfully, establish trust, and earn the right to lead. Over time, in partnership with local church leadership, your focus will shift toward mobilizing the congregation—equipping current believers to evangelize the lost and training the next generation of Mexican church leaders.
Key Responsibilities of a Southern Mexico Mobilization Missionary
In this role, your daily and weekly rhythms will be centered around church life, team collaboration, and intentional discipleship. Key responsibilities include:
- Church Membership & Service: Actively participate as a dedicated member of an El Calvario church in the Oaxaca City metro area, serving with humility, patience, and love.
- Ministry Mobilization: Partner closely with church leadership to execute a vision for evangelizing the lost, discipling believers, and mobilizing the church body for regional impact.
- Teaching & Preaching: As trust and opportunities develop, you will teach and preach within your local church, while also being open to supporting the broader El Calvario network through itinerant teaching.
- Relational Equity: Serve faithfully in the “small things” to establish deep trust and credibility with the congregation before stepping into formal leadership.
- Team Collaboration & Peacemaking: Work closely with the To Every Tribe field team. You will be expected to actively engage in prayer, planning, and conflict resolution, fostering unity and a spirit of reconciliation.
- Logistical Support: Assist with the coordination and support of short-term mission teams and volunteers, ensuring their efforts align meaningfully with the local church’s objectives.
- Language Mastery: Approach Spanish as a lifelong learner, setting aside regular time to study and continuously improve your language mastery.

- Commissioned, Licensed, or Ordained by a Sending Church.
- Strong capacity to teach and preach, coupled with a willingness to contextualize your communication to the local culture.
- Strong interpersonal skills—you must be reasonably outgoing and able to converse naturally with a wide range of people.
- In full agreement with To Every Tribe’s mission, distinctives, and Statement of Faith.
